“Save 10% of every paycheck” breaks on advances, shifts, and freelance lumps. You need a goal that takes money in fat weeks and stays quiet in thin ones.
Create a goalCreate a Buffer goal sized to 1–3 months of must-pay bills. Turn on an auto-transfer from the working account on a chosen day. In a thin month you can lower the amount without deleting the goal.
Watch the forecast: if a cash gap is already visible, do not treat the buffer as income this cycle. Spend it only on a real shock — a repair, sick leave, a hole in orders.
